Who we are
Founded in 2020, Kulminaatio develops interdisciplinary artistic works that engage with societal blind spots such as polarization, exclusion, poverty, and the erosion of empathy. Our practice combines contemporary performance, conceptual art, and participatory processes, using art as a tool for inquiry, dialogue, and collective sense-making. Through our projects, we explore how artistic practices can create spaces for encountering complexity and difference beyond simplified narratives.
Kulminaatio’s productions include Blind Spot (2021), Emma and Elham (2022), and Pääte. (2024). Emma and Elham, which addressed poverty in Finnish society, received national recognition through the Finnish “Dialogue Act of the Year” award and an Ashoka Young Changemaker of the Year nomination. Pääte. examined shifts in human agency and ethics in the age of artificial intelligence and led to Kulminaatio’s participation in the BeVisioneers by Mercedes-Benz fellowship program, supporting the international development and implementation of our artistic dialogical method in environmental decision-making contexts.
In parallel with our artistic productions, Kulminaatio has developed a dialogical method rooted in systems thinking, designed to facilitate safe and meaningful engagement with complex and polarizing topics. This method has proven effective in creating understanding and connection across differences and has been applied in artistic and societal settings. Through this combination of artistic work and dialogical practice, Kulminaatio positions itself at the intersection of contemporary art, social reflection, and systemic change.

Published works
Kulminaatio creates original musical works developed through interdisciplinary workshops within the collective. Lyrics and compositions emerge from shared artistic processes, where music is shaped in dialogue with movement, text, and conceptual inquiry.
Social Impact
Kulminaatio is an artist collective working in the field of contemporary art, where artistic practice functions as a space for dialogue and systemic imagination. Our mission is to use art to create understanding and connection in a time marked by polarization, ethical indifference, and fragmented realities. We are interested in art that does not resolve complexity but stays with it—art that opens shared spaces for sensing, thinking, and relating differently.
Positioned within an interdisciplinary and intermedia contemporary art tradition, Kulminaatio draws from performance art, conceptual art, and process-based aesthetics. For us, combining different artistic forms is not a stylistic choice but a necessity shaped by the ecological, emotional, and ethical conditions of our time. Our work emphasizes embodied, relational, and dialogical practices, understanding art as an active participant in shaping reality rather than a passive reflection of it.
Through our artistic and dialogical methods grounded in systems thinking, we create spaces for meaningful engagement where words, politics, or conventional communication are no longer enough.
